HELEN DAVEY TRIO
singer-songwriter (acoustic folk) .
As a song writer and composer, I need a wide array of tone colours to paint song moods. For this project, I sought multi instrumentalists who could meet this need.
I was blessed to work with two wonderful Swiss musicians: David Aebli (upright bass, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar) and percussionist, Ferdi Rauber (tabla, udu, gongs, many “nature sounds“ and didgeridoo).
We worked as a trio for a decade, touring in Switzerland and Australia.

This project began with our 'friendly fortnight' rehearsals to workshop our respective compositions. It soon blossomed into a touring duo, exploring our fascination with timbres, textures and form.

Working as a duo with David Aebli is like having lunch with a good buddy. David adds finesse to any tune. David: string bass, guitar, bouzouki, mandonlin. Helen: voice, piano, 6 & 12 string guitars.
PLAYBACK-THEATRE
Interactive Improvised theatre
I've worked as an improvising musician for several Playback Theatre groups in Switzerland since 2008 (Bumerang, Sapperlot, Zurich Pool, Gehdicht, Naerrischen Alten). One of my favorite things is to musically encapsulate the essence of a Teller's story.
In Playback theatre, audience stories are given a new dimension on stage. The music, a fitting word, a gesture suddenly bring previously hidden elements to light.
